Hygo Studio is Hiring: Full-Stack Product Engineer (UI/Brand/Design Focus)

Typical comp: $140,000–$240,000 (median $180,000)

Hygo Studio — an AI-powered creative platform where users generate, edit, and manage digital avatars and media — is hiring a Full-Stack Product Engineer with deep frontend craft and a passion for brand, design, and user experience. This page documents the role and the assessment bundle AIEH recommends to candidates who want to back their application with calibrated, comparable evidence.

This is a real, open role at Hygo Studio (April 2026 listing). Apply directly at hygo.com/#careers, or take the AIEH bundle below and share your Skills Passport URL alongside your application.

What Hygo is looking for

From Hygo’s job description, condensed:

Studio’s product surface is large — a creator studio, public profiles, community features, admin console, and a 530+ component design system. We need someone who can own features end-to-end across the stack but whose instinct is to obsess over the product: how it looks, how it feels, how it communicates the brand. You’re a full-stack engineer who happens to have exceptional taste.

Required skills (from the JD):

  • 5+ years building production web applications, with 2+ years of meaningful backend/API work alongside frontend
  • Expert React and CSS/Tailwind — complex layouts, animations, and responsive designs from scratch without reaching for a library
  • Strong product and design sensibility — user flows, brand expression, visual hierarchy, polish
  • Experience building or maintaining a component library or design system at scale
  • Solid backend skills: REST API design, relational database modeling, auth flows, async job processing
  • Familiarity with Next.js (App Router, SSR, server components) and Node.js / NestJS
  • Storybook, visual regression testing (Chromatic), or Playwright experience

Tech stack: React 18, Next.js 14, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Radix UI, Storybook, NestJS 11, Prisma, PostgreSQL, Redis, Temporal, Playwright, Chromatic.

How AIEH maps this role to a Skills Passport bundle

AIEH publishes the assessments that load most heavily on each role’s predictive competencies. For this role, the recommended bundle is:

FamilyRelevanceWhy it matters here
JavaScript Fundamentals0.90Core React/TypeScript depth — the JD demands “expert” level, and this family probes language fundamentals that separate copy-paste developers from people who can build a 530+ component design system.
AI Output Evaluation0.75Critical for working in a creator studio where AI generates the media. Tests judgment on what “good” looks like across model outputs — directly mirrors the design-craft instinct Hygo is screening for.
Big Five Personality0.65Conscientiousness predicts attention-to-detail in design system work; Openness predicts willingness to iterate visually without pixel-perfect specs. The JD explicitly screens for both.
Communication0.60”Shape product direction — you have opinions about what we should build” requires articulation, not just code.

Pillar weights for this role

AIEH’s default composite uses cognitive 0.25 / domain 0.35 / AI fluency 0.25 / communication 0.15. For this role we adjust the weights to reflect what Hygo is actually screening for:

  • Domain: 0.40 — JD demands expert-level React + CSS + Tailwind + Next.js
    • NestJS + Prisma. Domain depth is the gate.
  • Cognitive: 0.20 — Sufficient cognitive ability is necessary but not the primary differentiator at this seniority level (the JD doesn’t screen on problem-solving puzzles).
  • AI fluency: 0.20 — Working inside an AI-powered creative platform means evaluating AI-generated content quality is a daily skill.
  • Communication: 0.20 — Bumped above default because of the explicit “shape product direction” and “opinions about what we should build” language.

The composite score on the 300-850 calibrated scale is what recruiters at Hygo (and any other AIEH-using recruiter) compare candidates on.

Two ways to apply

Apply directly: visit hygo.com/#careers and follow Hygo’s application flow.

Apply with an AIEH Skills Passport: take the bundle above (start with the free JavaScript Fundamentals sample or Big Five sample — five questions each, no signup), then complete the full assessments to earn a calibrated 300-850 passport. Share your passport URL alongside your hygo.com application — Hygo can verify your scores at the candidate-owned URL without needing a separate vendor account.

The passport gives Hygo evidence on the dimensions the JD actually screens for. It does NOT replace the application — it strengthens it.

What AIEH cannot test (Hygo screens directly)

  • Production design-system experience at scale — the JD requires “experience building or maintaining a component library or design system at scale.” This is portfolio-evaluated, not assessment-evaluated. Bring links to the component libraries you’ve shipped.
  • Brand-influencing past work — “you’ve influenced or owned brand decisions in a previous role” is a reference + portfolio question, not an assessment question.
  • Hygo’s specific stack adoption — Radix UI, Zustand, React Query, Prisma, Temporal — these are bonuses Hygo evaluates from your experience, not testable in a generic JS family.

The JD also asks all applicants for: a couple of example links to live production work owned end-to-end, rough traffic/usage metrics, and an estimate of how much LLM/coding-agent contribution went into those examples. Have those ready before applying.
